GRANTS - A plan to allow sophomores to test out of their final two years of high school was described to the Grants/Cibola County School Board at its meeting on March 2. Rick Horacek, Director of Secondary Support Services, explained that New Mexico is one of eight states which will participate in the Board Examination Systems Program, which was organized by National Center on Education and the Economy, a Washington, D.C. based non-profit organization.
LAGUNA - Laguna Pueblo's Behavioral Health Services held a Gaming Awareness Conference in conjunction with National Gaming Awareness Week to inform the public of gambling issues.
CIBOLA COUNTY - Today, March 16, many residents will declare their candidacy for elected offices, including Sheriff Johnny Valdez. The clerk's office will be open for the declarations from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Valdez is running for reelection.
