GHS activity update

GRANTS - March 2 started the week off fairly slow at Grants High School. The representative from Eastern New Mexico University was at Grants High School at 8:30 a.m. Also that day juniors had an opportunity to buy class rings at lunch. March 3 was a slow day for high schoolers with no special events occurring.

On March 4 Advanced Placement applications were due for students who wished to apply. Advanced Placement classes are for students who wish to push themselves to better heights. High school students who pass AP Exams as seniors can skip entry-level courses in college. March 5 was set up for the regional science fair which started at 6 p.m. and went till 9 p.m.. The Jazz Band had a competition in Durango, Colo., which went through March 5.

Girls' basketball will play at Moriarty for the first game of the state tournament on March 5. The first day of judging for students at the regional science fair was also that day. It also marked the end of the third grading period. On March 7 will be special awards judging for the regional science fair in the morning and then at 7 p.m. will be the awards assembly at the Los Alamitos Gymnasium. Boys' basketball will play at Academy on March 7 for their first game of state play.

Next week will start off with an early release day on March 9. Grades will be due at 5 p.m. that day. The next day grades will be verified and corrections will be made if necessary. Verifications will be due at noon on March 11.

Senior registration will take place March 12 in the cafeteria at 6 p.m. Parent-teacher conferences will be held on March 13 from 8-11:30 a.m. and from noon to 3:30 p.m.

The District Art Festival and Concert will be at 6 p.m. in the auxiliary gym also that day.
