School history
In 1964 St. Teresa of Avila School opened its doors to students in the first and second grades. The small school flourished. In 1968 the school had grown to include first through sixth grades. In 1976 kindergarteners were invited to the school. In 1977 St. Teresa School launched its seventh and eighth grades. St. Teresa of Avila School now enjoys accreditation by both the New Mexico State Board of Education and the North Central Association at Arizona State University. Today, St. Teresa provides a seamless education from Pre-K through the eighth grade, preparing its students for high school and adulthood. Perhaps, most important, St. Teresa School continues to be a place where lasting memories and friendships are made.
School foundation
St. Teresa of Avila School Foundation is a non-profit group of volunteers that consists of former students, friends and parents of students that attend St. Teresa. The foundation was formed in 2004. It is not part of any religious diocese or school board oversight. Through donations and fundraisers, the foundation hopes to reach immediate goal. Over the long term, the foundation hopes to establish a financial reserve so the money can be used for new educational materials, teachers' salaries and campus building improvements. The foundation also works with grant writers to identify other available resources.
