Fire and Ice Route 66 Bike Rally 'Community Day' winners

GRANTS - The band Last Minute won the battle of the bands contest. Last Minute is from Albuquerque and play rock-n-roll music. The band recently placed third at the Dancing Eagle Casino battle of the bands.

The band consists of singer Lou Dorcey, bassist Anthony Ortiz, guitarist Frank Armenta and Karen 'Drummer Girl' Monty.

Judges for the first annual bike rally battle of the bands were Barry Lee of KMIN Radio, Dave Hegler and Council of Governments member Michael Sage.

Second place winner was Blood Line of Gallup and third place was Volcan of Grants and Gallup.

Cypher Liebel, 2, of Grants was the big winner of the Biker Baby Contest. He won the $250 scooter.

Other Biker Baby Winners were (first, second and third place in order):

• 0-12 Months -  Mackenzie Hunter, Amerika Rougemont and Adianna Balli

• 13-23 Months - Gregorio Vigil, Shawn Shutiva and Jordan Calladitto

• 2-4 Years Old - Jade Chavez, Dionna Gomez and Cypher Liebel

The Fire and Ice Route 66 Bike Rally Committee has set aside Sunday of the event each year as Community Day, a day that is dedicated to thanking the community and involves them in contests. For more information call 285-3573.
