Teresa Stern

Published Monday, August 17, 2009 5:34 PM MDT

Services for Teresa "Terri" Stern, 56, of Grants, will be held on Aug. 19, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Compassion Mortuary. Burial will follow at the Grants Memorial Park. All those who knew her are welcome to attend. The Baha'is of Grants will be in charge of the service.

She is survived by her loving husband: Paul Stern of Grants; mother: Ruby Longrie of Grants; daughter: Teresa Hornberger of Grants; son: Keith Bradshaw of Cleveland, Texas; brothers: Dennis Savell of Hobbs, Steve Savell of Odessa, Texas, and Terry Don Longrie of Missouri and Louisiana; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her father: Charles Savell.

Although Terri had not been well for several months her sudden passing to the Glorious Kingdom on Aug. 14, 2009, in Albuquerque was quite unexpected. Terri led an eventful life. Perhaps the words that best describe her are found in the well-used statement that “she never met a stranger.”

She was born in Baird, Texas. At the young age of 16 she discovered and accepted the Baha'i Faith, and remained firm throughout her life in her love for world unity and the oneness of mankind. Terri had a great interest in movie making, and participated for a time with the Poco Loco Players in Grants. She was also a member of For the Animals of Cibola County and had a special affinity for cats.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Teresa's name to a charity of the donor's choice.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

" Terri was the most loyal and loving friend of my life. Her soul is pure and beautiful. I miss you so much, friend. How I wish I could be there...but I wish more that I had been there in the months preceding your death. You were a surrogate mother to me, an adopted older sister, and a fun-loving friend. I can't believe you're gone. My heart is broken. Thankfully, you are now free of pain and sadness, united with your Beloved. I will see you one day. Until that day, you will always infuse my thoughts and memories. "
