Garland Lewis

    Services for Garland Gene Lewis, 59, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Ramah.



    He was born on July 11, 1950 and passed away on Oct. 17, 2009.

    Garland graduated from Ramah High School. After working several jobs throughout the state he landed at Century-Tel in Zuni where he spent more than 30 years and from which he had recently retired.

    Garland enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and, in his own words, “puttering around at the barn.”

    He is survived by his wife: Dee Ann Lewis of Ramah; sons, Dawane Lee Lewis and wife Kristen Lewis of Belen, Boyd Curtis Lewis and wife Natalie Lewis of Ramah, G. Preston Lewis and wife Keila Lewis of Salt Lake City, Utah and Ned Parley Lewis of Ramah; daughters, Melinda Danyelle Herron and husband Jaywhon Herron of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Megan Lurlene Brown and husband Darnell Brown of Salt Lake City, Utah; parents: Lurlene and Garland Parley Lewis of Ramah; brother: Larry Lewis of Arco, Idaho; sisters: Eleva McMahon of Ramah and Cindy Montague of Ramah.

    He was preceded in death by his brother: Vernon Lynn Lewis; and grandchildren: Taea Danyelle Hill, Jordyn Natalia Lewis, Tychelle Damya Herron, Tahleah Dalaney Herron, Mikaylah Jene Lewis, Kourtney Amber Lewis, Andrew Boyd Lewis and Jaidyn Kiele Lewis.

    Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
