GRANTS - The first-ever free county-wide vaccination clinic was held recently at the Elks Lodge in Grants.  The clinic was an overwhelming success and was the result of several agencies working in concert. During the event, more than 1,500 vaccinations were given.

Many attendees who participated remarked on the organization and efficiency of the operation.  Most people were in and out of the clinic in less then 10 minutes.

Both types of the seasonal flu vaccine, nasal and injections, were available to Cibola County residents.

A special "thank you" to the following organizations: American Red Cross, BPO Elks Lodge, John Brooks Supermarket, ACL Hospital, Cibola County, Cibola County LEPC, Cibola General Hospital, City of Grants, Grants/Cibola County Schools, Dept. of Health, Future Foundations Family Center, Lawrence Nelson of DOH, Mt. Taylor Ambulance, National Park Service, Pine Hill Clinic/EMS, Village of Milan, KDSK Radio, Cibola Beacon, Sonic, NMSU, Grants/Cibola County Chamber of Commerce, the Pueblos of Acoma and Laguna and finally to all the people who staffed the vaccination clinic and made this community event such a success.

Editor's Note: Dwayne Toivanen, Public Information Officer of the Grants-Cibola County Schools, attended the clinic and provided the information above.
