Vinson said on Friday he is excited to get back to work, “I will be battling with the spinal injury for several months into the new year requiring some outpatient services,” Vinson said, “and will probably require surgery eventually. However, I am excited to be back and get back at it.”
Michael told the Beacon that Vinson's health is most important, “Work will always be there. We are glad that he is back and hope he eventually has a full recovery from the spinal injury.”
Vinson made no county meeting in October but is expected to be at the next county meeting on Nov. 18 at 5 p.m. at the county complex building on High Street in Grants.
Items of interest at the October regular meeting:
• The commission approved $19,562 in Indigent Hospital Claims distribution outside of Cibola County General Hospital and $30,892 to the local hospital for prisoner care and patient care. Three claims were denied.
• Action item: $2,550 in support of the Rural Bookmobile was tabled primarily because of concern from Commissioner Chairman Michael in what communities within Cibola County are covered. “I'd like to see them add Seboyeta,” Michael said. “Why don't we have the group make the next meeting and explain to us in detail their services before we give them $2,550.” The amount was included in the budget according to county administration. Commissioner Walter Jaramillo voted 'no,' other commissioners voted 'yes' in support of tabling the item.
• Commissioners approved unanimously an agreement of mutual assistance between the county and Western New Mexico Correctional Facility.
• Subdivision roads of Camino de Belinda, Camino de Monico, Camino de Sylvestre and Camino de Maria were taken possession of by the county. The roads will now be maintained and upgraded by the county. The roads are southwest of Grants near the Grants Rodeo Grounds.
• Four large canisters were approved to be placed at Mount Taylor Addition per a request by resident Tony Canaba. “We want to give each community no excuse as to why their properties are not clean,” Michael said. “So more and more we are doing this, providing canisters to small communities for clean up days.”
• The sheriff's department reported five accidents, 47 arrests, 449 calls for service, 45 citations, 59 civil papers delivered and 37 incidents. Sheriff Johnny Valdez also met with the county commission on Oct. 28 in regard to a detailed report on fighting crime.
• Frank Salcido, director of the Cibola County Detention Center, reported to the commission that his facility is 15 inmates from being at full capacity. Salcido also reported $189,343 in revenue and $165,076 in expenses for the month of August. $10,104 was also noted in revenue from the state for rent.
