The Grants teams participated in the regular season of the Detmer Youth Football League, while the Gallup teams came from the Tony Dorsett Youth Football League.

The Cowboys, 7-9 years old division, were coached by Floyd Brito and Todd Dillard. Assisting were Mike Furbee and Milo Lucero.

Gregory Harris and Damon McDaniel continued their success for the Cowboys, racking up plenty of yardage and enough points to put the 'Boys in the lead for good. The Pack was able to get one touchdown in, but lost the Bowl game, 32-6.

The Warriors tested the Pirates defense early with trick plays and reverses, but the disciplined defense of Coach Eloy Gonzales shut down the attempts.

Pirate offense effectively moved the ball early in the first, with Trey Narramore getting into the endzone for a 7-0 lead.

Before the close of the half, the Warriors were able to score a touchdown, but couldn't convert the point after to trail 7-6.

After the break, Pirate Kyle Hooper carried the ball for a 34-yard touchdown and delivered the final blow in the Route 66 Bowl, 13-6.

Both teams will be moving on to the state level, but the times have yet to be announced.
