Grants streets is tops at October meeting GRANTS - City of Grants officials voted on four major street projects last week that include Johnson, Nimitz, High and Stevens Streets and Roosevelt Avenue. The projects total just a little more than $1 million. Every project besides Johnson Street was for engineering services for future construction. The Johnson Street project was approved by councilors to be sent as a Community Development Block Grant totaling $725,000 and includes sewer, gutters, sidewalk and paving. At the Oct. 27 regular meeting the council also approved: • A change order for the Concession/Restroom on Sakelares Boulevard at the Candelaria Complex. The order cost the city $11,715. • A change order for Mesa Boulevard totaling $22,818. The order was for repairing the valley gutter by a request from the Department Of Transportation. • Purchase of 140 Turkey Trot Sweatshirts from Special T's for $2,100. Councilor Fred Rodarte abstained from the action item as he is the owner of the t-shirt shop. • Amendment to Uniform Traffic Ordinance (See full story in next week's Beacon). • Half ton pickup truck purchased from Bob Turner Ford Country for $18,576. Tabled item One item was tabled - In regard to trying to keep purchasing two economy pickup trucks local, Martin Hicks motioned to table the item. The effort is to buy the two trucks from Ed Corley Ford. The next regular city council meeting is on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 6 p.m. |
