Softball Registration

Cibola County Amateur Association of Baseball Congress (CCAABC) is currently accepting registration for softball for girls age 13 through 18. Registrations are being taken Monday through Wednesday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Milan’s basketball gym.

Cost is $40 per player.

Little League Girls Softball Registration

The Northwest New Mexico Little League Softball league is currently accepting registration for girls’ softball. Cost is $40 per player and there is a price break for siblings.

Registration will be taken at Wells Park every Monday and Wednesday, 5:30-7 p.m. through May 8.

Age groups are 6-8-year-olds (minors), 9-11-year-olds (majors), 12-14-year-olds (seniors) and 15-18-year-olds (big leagues).

Children’s Fun Club

Milan Recreation Department at 405-C Airport Rd. (gym) in Milan is currently accepting registrations for it’s upcoming Children’s Fun Club, June 1 through July 30. Registration is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Children 5- to 10-years-old are eligible. Cost is $20 per child.

T-Ball Registration

Milan Recreation Department at 405-C Airport Rd. (gym) in Milan is currently accepting registrations for the upcoming tee-ball season, June 1 through July 30. Registration is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Children ages 4 and 5 are eligible. Cost is $20 per child.

Catching the Dream Scholarships Available

Catching the Dream is offering scholarships up to $5,000 to Native American college students. Students can attend any accredited college in the United States. The Fall deadline is April 15. The online application is at www.catchingthedream.org. You can send us your essay in advance for a critique.

K-3 Plus Program Registration

Grants/Cibola County Schools is currently accepting registrations for its upcoming K-3 Plus summer program at Milan, Mesa View, Mt. Taylor, Cubero, San Rafael and Bluewater Elementary schools.

The program is open to all students entering kindergarten, first, second and third grades.

Entries Wanted for Annual ‘Trashion Show’

Recycle Cibola! and the Grants High School Arts Department are co-hosting the 5th Annual GHS Trashion Show at the Schools’ Performing Arts Center. Trashion Show entries are recycled, re-purposed or discarded materials to create wearable fashion or costumes, limited only by your imagination and access to trash. GHS artists invite interested area residents to join them in creating wearable art for the 5th annual GHS Trashion Show on Wednesday, April 22, Earth Day, at the Performing Arts Center.

CDEC Scholarships Available

Continental Divide’s Electric Cooperative’s Education Foundation scholarships are now available. The application can be found in the Grants and Gallup offices and on CDEC’s website at www.CDEC.coop under the “Education” tab.


The deadline to return scholarship applications is May 1.

Grants of up to $4,000 are awarded.
