Area Residents Prepare for State Games in July

CIBOLA COUNTY – Many senior citizen area residents are preparing for July’s New Mexico Senior Olympics in Roswell, and potentially the 2017 National Senior Games in Birmingham, Alabama. This year, top winners at the state level move onto National competition in 2017.

Department of Health Announces Hantavirus Death in a Cibola County Man

The New Mexico Department of Health announced earlier today that a 54-year-old man from Cibola County has died of Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS). This is the second case of HPS in New Mexico this year. An environmental investigation will be conducted at the patient’s home to help reduce the risk to others.

Grants Mayor Recommends the Consolidation of Three Offices

CIBOLA COUNTY – Mayor Martin Hicks, who is known for his aggressive and direct approach on issues, advised councilors last week during their regular scheduled meeting that they should consider the consolidation of three offices – Grants MainStreet, Chamber of Commerce and Cibola Communities Economic Development Foundation.

NMFOG Offers State's Only Online, Self-Paced Transparency Course

The New Mexico Foundation for Open Government (NMFOG) recently developed an online training program based on the state's Open Meetings Act and the Inspection of Public Records Act. The course, which consists of 19 learning modules and 10 self-graded quizzes, is posted on the organization's website, www.nmfog.org.
