Services for Floyd Correa, 68, from the village of Mesita will include a Mass of Christian Burial on Sept. 18, 2012, 10 a.m., at the Risen Savior Catholic Church, located at 7701 Wyoming Blvd., NE., Albuquerque, N.M.

Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE., Albuquerque.

He was born on April 9, 1944, in Mesita, N.M., third oldest child of 14, to Joseph K. Correa and Eunice Jaye Correa.

He passed away on Sept. 12, 2012.

Correa attended New Mexico Highlands University and the University of New Mexico. He graduated from Grants High School in 1962.

Correa loved the outdoors, especially hunting. He was admired and respected by his many other surviving relatives, friends, and colleagues who loved him for his patient, gentle, humble spirit, his generosity and quiet wisdom and strength.

Pueblo of Laguna Governor Richard Luarkie asked that all pueblo members extend their appreciation for his leadership and commitment to the pueblo and to keep his wife Margaret and their children and grandchildren in their prayers.

Correa served as the Pueblo of Laguna's youngest governor at the age of 30. He also served on numerous boards, including chairman of the Laguna Development Corporation Board.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margaret; and their sons, Mario and wife, Monica, and Orlando and wife, Shawn; brothers: Dale, and Mike and wife, Francine; sisters, Lori and husband, Manuel, Jan and husband, Richard, Eva and husband, Jonas, Marilyn and husband, Alex, and Darlene and Jolene; brothers-in-law, Richard and wife, Lila, and Max and wife, Eva; sisters-in-law, Teresa, Rose, and Martha; grandchildren: Kainoa and Melia; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brothers, Joseph and TJ; and sisters, Teresa Ann, Sharon, and Phyllis Jean.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Barrett House Emergency Shelter, 10300 Constitution Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112 or St. Joseph Mission School, P.O. Box 370, San Fidel, NM 87049.
